Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Information

At Woodchurch C of E Primary we aim to carefully identify and support children with special education needs and/or disabilities in order to enable them to reach their potential and take a full and active part in all areas of school life.

Class teachers work hard to ensure that all children develop their learning appopriate to their needs and abilities. The school has a SENDCo, Mrs L. Lambert, who works with pupils, parents and staff to ensure good provision for all SEND pupils.

Where children have SEND, a Support Plan or Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) may be put in place to set out the aspirations and desired outcomes for the pupil and support that will be given to enable them to reach these. Advice and guidance will be given by the school SEND co-ordinator and also be other agencies such as Speech and Language Therapists and School Educational Psychologists.

The school will follow all legislation and guidance as set out in the SEND Code of Practice. Progress of children with SEND will be carefully monitored by the class teacher and the SEND team.

Parents will be fully involved in the process of supporting pupils with SEND and their views and aspirations for their child will be paramount. There will be regular discussions and communication to ensure that parents are fully informed and involved.

There is always a named governor with special responsibility for SEND and at this time it is Mrs R Edwards, who can be contacted via the school.
