EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

“The School, Through Its Distinctive Christian Character, Is Outstanding At Meeting The Needs Of All Learners.” (SIAMS)

We believe that extra-Curricular activities make a vital contribution to the all-round development of the pupils at the school. We provide a range of extracurricular activities throughout the year.

During the school week there are a range of clubs for the pupils to attend.

Woodchurch College of Extra-curricular

The school is involved in the Children’s University, which rewards those children who do take part in extra-curricular activities. The receive credits depending on the number of accumulated hours over the time they are in primary school. At the end of each year the pupils have the opportunity to receive one of the following:

  • 10 hours a certificate
  • 30 hours a bronze award
  • 65 hours a silver award
  • 100 hours a gold award
  • 100+ hours a platinum award

For those who achieve the bronze, silver, gold an platinum awards are invited to attend a ‘graduation ceremony’ followed by a party or afternoon tea.

The Young Leaders Award (YLA)

Young people have the power to change the world. The ‘Archbishop of York Young Leaders Award’ is similar to the civic award in that it acknowledges how the children go above and beyond to develop themselves beyond the curriculum learning. The award is about empowering Young Leaders to transform society and to inspire others to do the same

The Young Leaders Award (YLA) is a fully resourced leadership and character education programme designed to be delivered by teaching staff within the classroom.
