Day 1 of our Year 6 trip to London began with an early 7am start from school. When we arrived at our destination we had lunch and were quick into our first activity, a tour of Westminster Abbey. The children learned about the Queen’s coronation and saw the Coronation Chair. They were shown the grave of the Unknown Soldier, along with those of famous scientists and poets. We were privileged to get to see the tomb of Edward the Confessor who lies along side of famous English kings.

After a visit to Downing Street we were soon back on the coach and off to The Strand for dinner. In the evening we had a trip on The Eye with a birds eye view of the Thames and the capital. To round off the day we strolled up Birdcage Walk to see if The Queen was in Buckingham Palace. Sadly she was out.
