PE Ambassadors

On Tuesday 27th January, eight Woodchurch High School Year 8 PE ambassadors where selected to assist with a very special event at our School to raise money for a very good cause. The pupils at Woodchurch CE raised hundreds of pounds sponsorship for completing an 8 minute activity course that included Star Jumps, Press up’s, Spotty Dogs, and Squats all in the name of leading a healthy and active lifestyle. The Year 8 Ambassadors encouraged our younger pupils throughout and provided demonstrations and support when necessary, they where a credit to Woodchurch High School and their PE department.

Leading the event was Rachael Latham, a British Paralympic swimmer who is now working for the Channel 4 Olympic commentary team. At only 22, she holds the European record for 200m butterfly, the 200m British backstroke winner, and was only 17 when she picked up a Bronze medal at the European World Championships. Being born with Erbs Palsy, a paralysis of the arm caused by injury to the upper group of the arm’s main nerves, she is a true example of somebody who can achieve her dreams, no matter what the disability. Well done to all that took part.
